Black Eyed Peas go back to their roots: Cheese. [ I got a feeling.]

Black Eyed Peas - The End

I Got A Feeling – Black Eyed Peas

In “I Got A Feelin’” Black Eyed Peas do what made them famous: they’re sappy. It’s the kind of song that is ambiguous enough that your mom will like it when they play it on the adult alternative station along with Celine because it’s positive and, frankly, power pop. Anyone remember their breakthrough hit? Let’s flash back to 2003:

BEP and Timberlake

Where Is the Love? (Feat. Justin Timberlake) – Black Eyed Peas

I hate how sappy this song is. There has to be a cooler, less direct way to say this crap without making it sound like a praise song with a hip-hop beat. I hated it then and I hate it now. Enjoy!

The group didn’t really win me over (though it never really has) until “Let’s Get Retarded”, but that’s a different story entirely.

“I Got a Feeling” is their 2009 answer to the monstrous breakthrough hit, and it is better. Not much, though. I really don’t know how, because in 03 they had Justin Timberlake – and it was still awful.

UPDATE 07-02: The song has slowly won me over. I loved it the first time I heard it then hated it the second. Now that it’s everywhere, I’ve managed to enjoy it.

What are your thoughts on the Black Eyed Peas sappy cheese? Leave me a comment about it!
